Program Overview:
The Instructional Assistant program trains qualified individuals to work directly with students under the supervision of a classroom teacher. The duties include assisting children with math, reading and writing assignments, as well as handling clerical, housekeeping, and other tasks related to instruction. Other activities may include monitoring student activities, reading and storytelling, correcting papers, collecting fees, tutoring, one-on-one activities, and small group instruction. In addition, there could be work on classroom displays and media, utilizing computers, and supervising various classroom and playground activities.
